To me, this is pretty much the penultimate love-each-other-but- can't-be-together song. I've been dying to vid it for years, but I never had the right couple. Once I got my Christy DVDs, the wait became totally worth it. Oh, how I love my OTP.
I originally thought of using this song for Christy & Fairlight's friendship, as I love Tess Harper's Fairlight, and their relationship has always been so moving to me. But the more I listened to the lyrics, I realized that they so perfectly described the molding experience between Miss Alice & Christy, possibly the most pivotal relationship in both the book and the TV series.
A general series video about one of the main themes of both the book and the series - the power of forgiveness. For those like me, who enjoy Christy/Jane Eyre parallels, you should know that the song I used is sung by the character of Helen Burns in the Jane Eyre musical.
As I said before, I work with children, so the dynamic between Christy and the children of Cutter Gap is one of my favorites in the series. This is my tribute to Ruby Mae, Sam Houston, Creed Allen, Mountie O'Teale, and all those other unforgettable faces.
There is something a bit comparable about Christy/Neil and Jane/Mr. Rochester, isn't there? That's sort of the basis for this vid.
Christy loves Neil, but they're both haunted by his past. She tries to reach him, but he, loving her as much as he does, knows the best thing he can do for her is shut her out of his life. Ah, angst, how I love thee!
I love this song to pieces, and so the fact that everyone in the world makes a vid to it could not deter me. It's just so fitting for Neil. Plus, it gave me an excuse to use some of those pastoral walking scenes I love so much.
